Frequently Asked Questions

  • Welcome! We’re so happy you’re here. When you enter the church, walk up to the Vineyard Kids Check-in desk and a church volunteer will get you plugged into our system. Then we will explain some helpful information regarding check-in/out, some basic safety policies, and we’ll give you a brief tour of the kids rooms. Then you’ll receive a security tag that matches your child’s nametag. This will be used for paging and during check-out. All Vineyard Kids rooms open at 10:30am after worship. Toddlers are dropped off by parents and Pre-K through 5th graders will be escorted to their rooms by VK volunteers when worship ends.

  • Vineyard Kids is open to children ages 1yo-5th grade

  • If your child has special needs, please contact the church office to speak to a member of the Vineyard Kids staff prior to attending on a Sunday morning, so we can work together to set you and your child up for success.

  • Infants through 5th graders at Vineyard Kids are placed in a classroom based on their corresponding age or grade.

Right now, we break children up into 4 rooms: Toddlers, Pre-K, K|2, and 3|5.

The toddler room is available for children ages 1yo-3yo, pre-K is for kids ages 3yo-4yo, K|2 is for children in Kindergarten through 2nd grade, and 3|5 is for children in 3rd through 5th grade.

At Vineyard Kids, all children from Pre-K to 5th grade move up to their new classrooms together, one time each year. This means when your child has their birthday they will remain in the same classroom in which they currently attend. We structure our classrooms this way because we highly value the relationships your child is forming with leaders and friends in their classroom. At the end of the year we will host a graduation for kids who will be changing classrooms.

  • After kids are checked-in and parents/guardians receive their security tag, all children are welcome and encouraged to worship with their families in the main sanctuary. The Toddler room and Nursery are available for parents if kids need a place to get their wiggles out. When worship ends, toddlers can be dropped off in the toddler room by their parent/guardian, while pre-k through 5th grade children are released to their leaders at the back of the sanctuary and escorted down to their rooms.

After the service ends, parents/guardians present their security tag to a VK leader at the door of their kid’s classroom. The VK leader will match the security tag’s corresponding code to the child’s name tag and release the child back to their parent.

  • We use the Tru Curriculum.

Tru is a life changing, spiritually forming, parent engaging, kid captivating curriculum.

Tru is about equipping leaders, children, and families to live a life of transformation. It’s about discovering God’s redemptive narrative and how the Hoy Spirit will lead believers of all ages on their journey to know Him more.

  • Our desire is to offer a safe and healthy environment to our children. We ask that children with the following symptoms to please stay home with a parent or guardian to rest and recover. Children must be symptom-free from cold or flu for a minimum of 24 hours.

    • Yellow/green runny nose

    • Elevated fever during the past 48 hours (99.6 or above and without the use of fever-reducing medication) and experiencing symptoms of diarrhea and/or vomiting.

    • Eye drainage or infection

    • Contagious rash and specifically any open wound caused from itching a rash.

    • Persistent coughing or sneezing that is not allergy related

    • Exhibiting signs or a contagious health condition such as lice, croup, chickenpox, or COVID.

  • Safety is a core value of Vineyard Kids. We have numerous safety policies in place to ensure that children are physically and emotionally safe. We always have at least 2 leaders present in each room with kids and all of our leaders have passed a 3rd party background check. We also have a paging system in place in case we ever need to contact a child’s parent or guardian quickly.

We strive for children to be and feel safe. We want our kids to feel safe to ask questions, open up to others, respond to the Holy Spirit, and to be themselves.

  • Because our curriculum is adapted in each class to best fit the age group being taught, we encourage kids to attend the service in their assigned classroom. However, if a child is uncomfortable attending alone, they may attend service with a friend or family member; we just ask that both children attend the service for the youngest child’s age group. This allows both children to fully understand and engage in the lesson being taught.

  • Yes! Each week, we email a document to all our parents called the “At Home Weekly”. This document is designed to help your children prepare for the upcoming lesson and review the previous lesson they learned on Sunday. There are also fun and helpful activities for you to do as a family to help strengthen your child’s spiritual development.

  • We provide snacks for the kids ages 1 year old through 5th grade. We provide options such as Goldfish, Cheerios, and Pirates Booty. If your child has an allergy or cannot have the provided snacks, please let us know at check-in so we can add a note to your child’s nametag. You are welcome to bring a prepacked snack for your child as well.

  • Family worship Sunday is a church rhythm we practice on the 5th Sunday of the month. On Family Worship Sunday, we shrink our service down to an hour, close down Vineyard Kids, and invite our kids to participate in a pared-down, living room vibe adult service. The Nursery and Toddler rooms are open for parents if their kids need a moment to burn some energy. At the end of service, snacks are provided for everyone to enjoy!

We value this practice because it gives our VK volunteers a break, but it also gives us the opportunity to participate in church together as a full church family. Demonstrating to our kids that our church is a warm and welcoming environment and building relationships with trusted adults in our community are vital parts of a child's spiritual development, and FWS gives us a chance to do both. We strive for a church culture where our kids are embraced, wiggles and all.
